Post Box Questions

Post box questions

  • A post box can be applied in a sex ed lesson so students are able to write questions anonymously around sex education. This is a great tool so that students feel comfortable about asking questions in relation to sexuality, this often works well because students really want to know about the topic but don't have the confidence to ask in class, this is a strategy to get around this. Each student must write on a post-it even if they don’t have a question and place it into the box, that way the class isn’t able to pinpoint who wrote a question. These questions if appropriate, will be answered at the beginning or end of the next lesson.

Pms, or premenstrual syndrome are symptoms which indicate either too little or too many hormones. This can result in mood swings, food cravings, sex drive, anxiety etc.

Can pre-cum have an effect during intercourse?

Yes, it is possible to achieve pregnancy with pre-cum but is highly variable and changes between each individual. An asexual is an individual who does not have the urge to have sexual intercourse, or commence in sexual activity. No sexual desire.

How do we know if we are asexual?

There is no set age for when we gain awareness for our sexual preference. Though, you may have friends of the same age who have their preference set in stone it may not come to you or can change over a period of time.

Do we get condoms?

I myself or the school won’t provide condoms for personal use, the condoms that we provide for the practical session are likely to be expired.

Yes you do! If you feel comfortable later on in the lesson a demonstration will occur

Is it okay to have underage sex?

The law in New Zealand states that the legal age is 16. This applies to those who are BOTH underage as well. The reason for this is the maturity of the individual or couple to have a child. This law of age changes in different countries and have different underlying laws. If you are underage and have sex it’s a matter of what’s going to happen if you do have a child given that you’re only 12 or 14. Are you prepared to take that risk?

-How are you going to support that child

-Getting a job becomes more difficult at a young age with no credentials

-Think about future tense; are you prepared to be responsible for the child for 18 years.

-Think about the child, is the child getting the best lifestyle it could possible have including attention, financial support, opportunities.

Are you going to study whilst pregnant, or how can this affect your grades?

This also applies to the male in the relationship it’s a dual responsibility, if you get her pregnant communication and narrowing down your possibilities may be considered.

How likely is it to get pregnant when losing your virginity?

Arguably, it is highly likely if both participants are virgins and are inexperienced, this can lead to mistakes. You are equally as likely as any other time if you are to have intercourse with your partner as the loss of your virginity will not impact the likelihood of not getting pregnant. Whether you engage in intercourse 100 times or your 1st time the likelihood for getting pregnant still remains the same and comes down to many variables.

Why is it painful for females to lose their virginity?

It doesn’t have to be, you can try alternatives, communication etc.

What are some major consequences of unprotected sex?

Sti’s, std’s, pregnancy.

What is dry sex?

Grinding, no penetration, clothes on usually.

What is a virgin?

Virgin is an individual who has not partaken in sexual intercourse with another person.

A hymen can be broken from riding bikes, or horses and is common to break before having sex. Thus, a hymen is not a valid indicator of what a virgin is.

Do you know what the school CHAOS group is?

What is it?

Does anyone else know what it is ?

How do I know if I’m gay?

Ultimately, it comes down to being attracted to the opposite sex; getting to know yourself and understand your preference can be difficult and isn’t always straightforward. Some people change over time due to their experiences (not necessarily negative).

How much is a box of condoms?

Prices range depending on place you go to such as supermarkets, brands, etc.

Companies such as Family planning have identified that costs at times aren’t financially feasible for all communities. Therefore, subsidies have been provided and additional advice and support in other services to assist young adults.

How does your period affect your sex life?

As mentioned above due to hormonal imbalances it can impact your sex drive; it can also have a consequence of pregnancy however, the chances are still lower. Some woman/ girls aren’t comfortable with having sex whilst on their period (personal preference).

Why do you moan during intercourse?

This could be a response to the ‘pleasure’ or a positive feeling during sex. Just like eating chocolate, gambling or smoking endorphins are produced via the central nervous system.

What positions are there?

Ultimately, again, this comes down to your imagination but the key point is the communication and consent between both partners which determines the suitability and preference.
