Introduce the content

Elicit knowledge on what they know via powerpoint and class discussion.

Answer the questions provided from the post box.

From our last lesson we talked about conception, who remembers the definition or what it encompassed?

-conception, the process of becoming pregnant

-we were able to identify the process in which it occurred, many of you were successful with this.

-we also learnt about fertilization and growth within the womb, today we’re going almost backwards and talking prior to conception.

Today we’re going to discover contraceptive methods and the pro’s and cons of these.

(Asking the class) Who knows what contraception is?

-What are some examples of Contraception?

-Why do we use it, What benefits does it have.

-What are some things to consider when it comes to contraception?

A power point will be projected, the class will go through the questions and answers, we will discuss in further detail.

  • Last week we received questions from students in the class

  • Today we’re going to answer these questions.

Construct tables

Get students to attempt to put a condom on the apparatus (if they are comfortable).

Students will then find their associated number. Ipads will be distributed, to each group. Each group collects information about their allocated contraceptive. In 20 minutes students will return to their groups and then inform those around them about it.

How the apparatus works, cost, where you get it pro’s cons? (effectiveness)

What are some things we need to think about when identifying whether the condom is suitable to use?

-whether the condom pack is expired

-Any cuts or questionable integrity

-Hold the top of the condom, why do we do this? To provide a designated area for the semen to reside. What could happen if we don’t do this?
